Cook the Steak the Right Way

Cook the Steak the Right Way

Some people might get intimidated cooking the steaks on their own. There are techniques that can be used or take a chance on experimenting. Any cooking method for steaks require considerations of temperature, cut, and cookware.

The first step is to pat the steak dry with paper towels. This is to get rid of any moisture on the exterior of the steak that must first evaporate before the meat begins to brown.

Season the steaks generously on both sides with salt and pepper; the seasoning will stick to the surface and help create a delicious crust.

After pat drying the fresh-cut, turn on your exhaust fan and heat a heavy pan over medium-high heat until it turns extremely hot. The best pans for pan-searing are made of Titanium Stainless Steel like Nutricraft cookware products.

When the pan is ready, add the oil to the pan. You’ll know it’s hot enough when it begins to shimmer and move fluidly around the pan.

Be careful in setting the steak in the pan, taking a distance away from you to avoid splattered oil.

It should sizzle but not smoke because it sends a signal of overcooking.

Leave the steak alone while looking for the right colour before turning over. Avoid the temptation to flip repeatedly. The steaks need a few minutes of cooking undisturbed to create a brown crust.

The steaks are ready to be flipped when they release easily and the bottom is a deep-brown colour (usually about 3 minutes). Continue to cook the steaks for another 3 to 4 minutes on the bottom side for rare or medium-rare.

Before it gets cooked, add 1 tablespoon of butter and a sprinkle of fresh herbs. Once done according to personal taste, let the steak rest for a few minutes before serving.
